THE CHOSEN FEW • In The Rain • 1976

It just started to rain here in the SF Bay for the first time this fall... very grateful for this much needed precipitation to finally calm down the fire season which most people know has been getting pretty extreme in recent years...

As much as I know a lot of folks hate us out here and secretly (or openly) wish we'd just burn to the ground and then crumble into the Pacific Ocean in a huge earthquake... I will say that I wish no such evil on anyone (even those so spiteful as to hope for such a terrible thing) and am just a simple man who was born in the area nearly a half century ago before it became so ridiculously expensive and overly gentrified - who has simply been blessed by the grace from above to be able to remain in the only place I have ever truly called 'home' in this mysterious life...

But... if any y'all still hatin' and wishin' for a catastrophe out here... well... first, you best come on out and check out how incredibly beautiful the earth is in these parts...

...how diverse the population is... how fantastic the weather... and as for the food -- well... if it were to disappear tomorrow, then just remember: so would all the world's best weed... grape vineyards... ...avocados ...almond orchards... apples... (just to name a few things!)... as well as all your most innovative computer technology, top movies and most television... etc. etc. etc... so... you just might want to reconsider all that!

But hey... BIG thanks to erry'body else who aint thinkin' & actin' that way ~ come walk out in the rain with me here today in the Bay ~ and maybe you'll see just a 'lil bout why I say what I say...
